Meet our 2025 staff.
Michael and Esther, Owners
Michael has owned Licking Creek Bend Farm since 1972. It had a short life as a "diaspora kibbutz," but after the "city-slickers" returned to the big city, he had grown to love his land and turned his attention to farming. It was only two years later that he participated in his first farmer's market in Washington, DC. More than 40 years later, he's still doing what he loves, while also staying socially active. His mission is to provide delicious and nutritious food at an affordable price. Esther manages the CSA, works at several markets, and takes care of administrative-related tasks, all while giving Michael the loving support and advice he needs to keep this beautiful and sustainable operation flowing smoothly.

Chloe
Chloe comes to the farm from neighboring Bedford County, PA, where she grew up helping care for her family’s small home gardens. She has a degree in Peace and Social Justice Studies from Berea College and is a member of the Church of the Brethren, a historic peace tradition. Chloe is eager to apply her organic growing skills learned in Vermont and Japan here at Licking Creek this year.

Kuro
Kuro (Japanese for black) came to live at the farm with Chloe less than a week after her own arrival here with us. He was adopted on May 1st, and has already won over the majority of the staff with his good looks and sweet nature.
